Change your Oracle Cloud home region — step by step

Step 1 — Confirm your account is at least 90 days old

Console → Profile → Tenancy → creation date. If it's under 90 days, you're not eligible yet.

Step 2 — Subscribe to the target region

1. Console → top-right region switcher → Manage Regions.
2. Find the region you want (Frankfurt, London, Ashburn, Amsterdam, Phoenix are safest for ARM).
3. Click Subscribe. Subscription is free and takes a few minutes.

Step 3 — Change home region

1. Console → Profile → Tenancy → Change home region.
2. Select the subscribed region. Confirm.
3. Oracle processes the change in the background — usually within 24 hours. You'll get an email when it's done.

Step 4 — Migrate your workloads

Free-tier allocations follow the new home region, but existing resources do not move. To migrate:

• VMs: create a custom image, export it to Object Storage, import in the new region, launch a new instance.
• Block volumes: cross-region backups → restore in the target region.
• Autonomous Database: use Data Pump export/import or the built-in cross-region cloning if both regions are subscribed.

Step 5 — Terminate the old region's resources

Once the migration is verified, terminate old VMs, delete volumes, and unsubscribe from the old region to keep your Always Free quotas clean.
